HAYNES STREET SCHOOL 4TH ANNUAL WALK-A-THON

Haynes Street School’s annual Walk-A-Thon is a great fitness activity that is fun for all grade levels – where your children get to reach for their personal best. LAUSD does not fund any physical education programs at elementary schools, so our school needs your help.
The Walk-A-Thon goals are:
* Raising student awareness about being healthy and fit
* Raising $25-$50 in donations per student from family, friends and neighbors to help fund our school’s physical fitness program and playground equipment
We ask that every family participate in supporting the Walk-A-Thon to the best of your ability. The more sponsors the students obtain, the more they will truly know how many people support their commitment to their school’s physical education programs and emphasize the importance of exercise and healthy eating. All funds raised will be designated towards the school’s physical education programs.
Attached is the Sponsorship form, which requires the name, email address, phone number and donated amount be provided on the form. Donations are a flat rate amount only, not per lap walked. Donations may be made by anyone, though we discourage asking strangers to participate as sponsors. The forms and payments may be turned into the office or your teacher before the event date or can be turned in the day of the event. Children will walk laps around the playground for a designated time. Parents are welcome to attend and walk with their children or alternatively help with the event.
In an effort to stay green, we are asking children to bring their own reusable water bottles from home. We will have water stations set up to fill the water bottles (cups will be provided for those who do not bring their own). Each child will receive a snack at the completion of the walk.
The class with the highest total pledges will receive a special treat.
